What Is The Role Of Geotextiles?
Geotextile is the use of weaving technology to produce water-permeable geosynthetic materials, into cloth, also known as geotextile. Its main characteristics are light weight, good overall continuity, simple construction, high tensile strength, corrosion resistance. Geotextile is divided into woven geotextile and non-woven geotextile, the former is made of single silk or multiple strands of silk, or by thin film cut into the flat yarn woven; The latter consists of short fibers or spinneret long fibers randomly laid into batting pads, and then mechanically entangled (needling) or thermal bonding, or chemical bonding.
Geotextiles can mainly be used:
ISOLATION BETWEEN DIFFERENT MATERIALS
Between roadbed and foundation; Between railway roadbed and ballast; Between landfill and gravel base; Between geomembrane and sandy drainage layer; Between foundation and embankment soil; Between foundation soil and foundation pile; Under sidewalks, parking lots and sports fields; Between the poorly graded filter layer and the drainage layer; Earth dam between different areas; Used between old and new asphalt layers.
REINFORCED AND PROTECTIVE MATERIALS
Used on soft foundations of embankments, railways, landfills and sports fields; Used for making geobags; Used for reinforcement of embankment, earth dam and slope; As a foundation reinforcement in karst areas; Improve the bearing capacity of shallow foundation; Reinforce the pile bearing table; Prevent the base soil from puncturing the geomembrane; Prevent the impurities or stone layer in the landfill site to Pierce the geomembrane; Due to the high friction resistance, it can lead to better slope stability on the composite geomembrane.
INVERSE FILTERING
Under the gravel base of pavement and airport road or under the ballast of railway track; Around the rubble drainage layer; Perforated around underground drains; Under the landfill where the leachate is produced; Protect the earth mesh to prevent the invasion of soil particles; Protect geocomposite materials to prevent soil intrusion.
DRAIN AWAY WATER
As a vertical and horizontal drainage system for earth DAMS; Horizontal drainage of soft foundation precompression levee bottom; As a barrier layer for underground capillary water rise in frost sensitive areas; Capillary barrier layer of saline liquid flow in dry land; As the base of hinged concrete block slope protection.
